1982 - current  

Professional Musician.

Toured nationally and internationally. Awarded commissions and fellowships by the National Endowment for the Arts, San Francisco Arts Commission, Ford Foundation and Rockefeller Foundations. Extensive discography as leader and collaborator.

1989 - current

Organizational consultant and non-profit organization manager

Served management and consultant roles for Kularts, Unity/La Unidad Newspaper, Community Educational Services, Justice Matters Inc., Oakland Asian Cultural Center, and Asian Improv aRts (co-founder). Skills include: strategic planning, fund development, communications, operations, human resources.

Teaching

1992 - current

Private studio 

1992 - 1998

Artist in Residence at Cameron House in San Francisco Chinatown supported by California Arts Council award. Taught instrumental music, led ensemble workshops, provided one to one and group mentorship 

1996 - 2001

University of California at Santa Cruz American Studies lecturer teaching course entitled "Aspects of Asian American Culture"

1996 - 1998

San Francisco State University Music faculty teaching jazz saxophone and jazz ensembles

1996 - 1997

New College of California guest faculty co-teaching with author/performer Genny Lim course entitled "Ritual Theater"

2000 - 2003

Composer in Residence at Oakland Asian Cultural Center, Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California. Taught instrumental music, led ensemble workshops, taught professional development courses, provided one to one and group mentorship
